I guess I will stick up for those of us who are spelling challenged... *REOW*
I loving everything I am hearing. I think a body to promote the scene will a boon to our hoby/obsession. I been thinking about what can be done to promote the proposed club. I guess word of mouth and the web will be the major tools. Now there are alot of web sites around all doing the same thing, I have several bream sites bookmarked.
Yet the one site I keep going back to is bassmaster.com, why?, to see if they have updated any of the videos.
I think would this would be a great method of getting people interested. Being a social club I would assume there would be members days and such for learners and such, much like breammer days BM have run. I think if segements from these type of events, or specifically set pieces, would be a great way to promote the scene/club/and possible website. How many forums do we see the same questions come up over and over again, these are questions novices to breamming/fishing a looking for answers. If the club addressed these areas, in a media form, or at the very least in a FAQ/digest format will keep people coming back. Also leverage of other net technologies, mailing lists, RSS feeds and such.
This verbal tiraid boils down to, we buy lures because they are nice and flashy :) I think the same sparkle and attention attraction should be applied to the club. Now how this could be implemented would be up to the ruling commitee, but if a "cool" internet pressence is decided on I could maybe source some free hosting. I definitely can get bits to build a box for it to live on.
Anyway that's enough from me, Spicks and Specs is coming on and I am in the middle of a game ;)
