Hi guys.
I went out for a nice morning session with one of Perth's most regarded
local Snapper on plastic fisherman in Andrew Matthews. I've been
wanting to get onto some nice Pink's on plastics for a while and Andrew
offered to take me out so I was keen as mustard...until I woke up to
about 4 degree's of overcast weather!
Our first spot which Andrew has fished quite a bit and holds some
monster Snapper at times was absolutely loaded with baitfish and with
Andrews sounder (a top notch Humminbird) we could see the odd big fish
hanging off the structure. With a fair bit of excitement we plugged
away for a while only getting one or two short takes but nothing much
more than that.
Having had some crappy weather of late Andrew thought the fish might be
hanging off the rock walls as so often happens in Perth. Basically the
rock walls all the way up the Metro coast get loaded with Pinks when we
get crappy weather as they come into feed, so we hoped that might be
the case and off we went to work the rockwalls.
Although there certainly weren't many fish around, we weren't left
disappointed as I got onto my first semi decent Pink on placcies.
Andrew's excitement and eagerness to get me onto my first fish just
shows how good a bloke he is and how much he genuinely loves this style
of fishing. I landed the angry lil bugger on my Egrell S4 and Daiwa
Caldia Kix 2000 loaded with 6lb fireline and 15lb leader. The plastic
was a JiggyJigs 3" Tournament Grub in Pearl Pepper on a 1/4oz JiggyJigs
SW Series Jighead.
I am stoked to have got onto a metro snapper on placcies and absolutely
cannot wait to get on to more. Massive thanks to Andrew for hooking me
up...althought I might be cursing him when I see my bank balance in a
few months as I can see some more lures being purchased because of this
soon to become obsession of mine.
