Hi Shane.
If your talking about crushing the barb, then they should crush easily.  Your right it is good for you and the fish...I wish I didnt get lazy and made sure I did it every time!!!

Also, for those times when the hook keepers on jigs may be a tad big, our lead is soft enough to be crimped lightly to make the keeper a little smaller and therefore softer on the soft plastic.
