Hey guys
After a bit of thinking and plenty of interest lately, Ive decided to start building plastic rods based on my current personal designs.
First off, I would like to say im not an experienced rod builder nor will I have any of the years of experience that people like Eric and Deb Grell, but after getting better and better with each rod, I feel I have the skills and techniques to offer a pretty decent rod.
The rods are built on hastings pioneer blanks. They are very light, fast taper blanks in a standard graphite grey colour. I can bind in any colour thats available. All my bindings are in a single layer and are covered in a light coat of epoxy to reduce weight. The rods dont carry any decals- again to keep weight down. I try to really minimize the weight of these things as a priority.
Reel seats are done away with, in preference of shaped cork and a fighting butt. The reels are wrapped on with rod wrap again to minimise weight but I believe it also helps with sensitivity. I will wrap any style of guides- namely fuji or recoils.
Im not mass producing as this is more a hobby for me at the moment, so each one will need all the gear to be ordered before its done. Once I get the gear, it will take about a week for me to do it all.
I cant personally recomment this style of rod highly enough. The sensitivity and lightness has to be felt to be believed, I know they have really helped my tournament fishing this year. Im more than willing to let you have a feel/fish with one before you make a decision (if your between Perth and Augusta in WA)
Heres a couple of pics of fish ive pulled with them
