Hi guys,
I'm looking at buying a couple of Luvias's soon.  They will be almost entirely for breaming and therefore I am looking at getting the light spools.

Can someone tell me the pro's and cons of the 2004 Spool over the 2000.  I think there's a diff in drag pressure and also body weight, but performance wise which do you prefer?

For the record I'm also looking at getting a larger Caldia Kix for Salmon, Tailor, Tropics fishing.  Anyone got much experience with them?

Thanks guys.

Dave

The 2004 is 200g with 2kg of drag pressure

1500 is 215g with 4kg of drag pressure

2506 is 215g with 3kg of drag pressure

2000 is 220g with 4kg of drag pressure

Respectively on the site i checked its 25,500JPY, 23,900JPY and 25,980JPY and 24,300JPY

Im going to test how much drag is 2kg with some scales tonight to see just how much it is and if its enough for breaming. That is the ultralight option here and im going to look at the twinpowers as well.

The twinpower 1000 is available in normal or shallow spool and weighs 195g with 2kg of drag pressure. Both are 26,500 JPY for the brand new models.

I think I'll get a couple of 2004's for my breaming.  I'd seen those stats re: weight...200grams is sweet!!!

I'm curious about how much line they hold...obviously tiny bit of backing, but how much 4-6lb braid can it hold?

Looks like 70m of 5lb mono at 0.185mm diameter. Now you have to research your braid diameter and find what size it is and how much you will get on a spool. I usually get a 125m spool for two reels. Jump on your chat and we can debate it more. Ive ordered the first of my plastic rods and will need reels before mid january. Im going to play with a twinpower and a luvias and see what suits.

2kg drag is bloody tight... I can only just pull it off the reel if that helps. After a while the line gets too tight and starts to cut so i stopped.

If a 2004 cant stop it, then its one of those unstoppables. The only thing i have researched further, is that the 2004 is a reel that needs to be treated nicely with no throwing it around or dropping it.

My only real dilemma is now casting distance, which can cast further....

Man just go the Daiwa.  From my experience they are a better reel over time.  The internals tend to stay tigher IMO and results in longer smoothness, rather than Shimano's short term superior smoothness.

2kg drag is more than enough for breaming IMO.  You try pulling 2kg drag through a rod...big chance you'll break the rod...lol

Now I need to decide on a couple of rods.  SJR720IMX may get the nod for my hard body work...Soft plastic rod will remain in the air for a bit I think.

You know where i am if you want to talk hastings man. What would an IMX like that cost to get built with your choice of guides?

Dave you know that im going to America in about a month! pretty sure the GLX/IMX's are dirt cheap there..... im sure some sort of arrangment can be worked out!

As for luvias' just get a 1500. you never know when you might need the extra hurt power especially up north and salmon etc. i remember fishing my bio's at the narrows and hooking mullas a couple of years ago with a locked drag (2kg) the line was pissing out as if it was in free spool!
